Achievements

  • Offices with necessary equipments and furniture established at Sakrand & Shaheed Benazirabad.
  • 3 acres land acquired on 13th June 2010 for construction of Laboratory and other infrastructure.
  • Construction of boundary wall and raising gates is ongoing.
  • Laboratory Building constructed up to roof of first floor.
  • 8 Horses, 10 sheep, 3 Camels and 150 snakes purchased for initial experimentation. Necessary Vaccination of horses, sheep, and camels done.
  • Venom fractioned at HEJ Karachi University and Institute of Biochemistry Sindh University Jamshoro.
  • Dry venom and solution of various dilutions stored at Sindh University.
  • Linkages established within and outside country with various Institutions, including Instituto Colorado Picado (ICP) Costa Rica and Mahidol University Bangkok Thailand. Dr. Kavi Ratana visited Sindh from 11th to 18th July 2010.
  • The National Protocol of Snake Bite Management drafted, Published by PMRC Islamabad and circulated by Federal Ministry of Health Islamabad.
  • Provincial Protocol published and has been circulated through out the Country to the 70 public and private Medical Universities and Medical colleges.
  • Medical curriculum in Pakistan regarding local snakes and snake bite management corrected and updated.
  • Bachelor degree awarded on venom fractionation and enrolment of M.Phil and PhD programs at SU.
  • Curriculum of LHW program in Pakistan reviewed and updated on Snake bite first aid.
  • Health Education material on Snake bite first aid in Sindh updated.
  • Training of Doctors in Badin, Thatta, Mithi, Ummerkot, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur conducted on scientifically proven evidence based snake bite management.
  • Training of Pakistan Rangers conducted on “How to Live with Snakes” at Div Head Quarter Chachro on request of DG Rangers.
  • Official WEB site launched.
  • ASV produced on experimental basis and tested successfully in animals and human beings.
  • Temporary experimental laboratories established at Sindh University Jamshoro, PUMHS Nawabshah and small animal house at Agriculture University Tando Jam to enable swift transfer of technology.
  • Camels immunized with venom (1st dose) to shift the technology from horses to camels which is cost effective and more efficient.
